Most of them are special batteries these days; though personally I think that's a shame. There's nothing more annoying then when you're out and about and you really need to take a pic or make a movie and the battery is dead. My camera is only 2 years old and takes aa batteries or rechargables much easier than the previous one i had that only took rechargables.0
