How do you know the puncture was caused by debris from the roadworks?0
-
Take a photo quick then try for a claim, otherwise they will remove the debris.0

Hi Motoring People,
I was driving on the duel carriageway passing through roadworks, and my tyre became punctured due to debris on the road.
Is it possible for me to try and claim some of the cost of a new tyre back?
Long shot in my view unless we have more detail as to why it was the roadworks and not any other debris 2miles up the road.0 -

If you had a camera with you at the time, and took a picture immediately, then you may have been lucky.
However, as that is probably not the case, then you cannot prove anything.0 -
Unlikely. It's happened me a few times before, and is a complete pain, but you'd have a hard time proving it was that debris, and not anything else on the road etc.0

It can be done. My old man received a cheque for around £350 worth of repairs because of damaged caused during the works on the M1 between Dunstable and Luton. It's not the most simple of procedures but, even though he didn't have a great amount of evidence (photos, etc), the contractor accepted liability.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. You'd also in a court of law be able to prove that they took reasonable precaution to prevent it from happening.0

What sort of debris punctured your tyre? Tread or sidewall damage?
Tyre repairable? How much tread is left?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
For the sake of a stamp why not write to the contractor stating that you believe something left on the carriageway by them damaged your tyre. Send with it a copy of the receipt for the tyre. They may ignore you, they may say not responsible, or they may send you some or all of the price of the tyre.
I think this would be a better option then trying to prove the debris you hit was left by them. Unless of course you can.0 -
Two tyres. Dangerous to have mismatched tread depths on the same axle.
This applies regardless of whether you claim or not.0
