making mobile calls from ireland

My Dad goes to Ireland a lot and has an O2 "Ireland bolt on" which is free to add to your contract and gives discounted calls to UK and Ireland while you're there. When I took out his contract in April I did a fair bit of research and with this O2 was the cheapest for use in Ireland.
But for making calls your best bet would be to get a Meteor sim card, free from a Meteor shop when you buy credit for it, and choose the "anytime plus" tariff0 -
hi I live in N/Ireland and we have 02 ie sims,(as well as uk sims) as 02 ie has stopped roaming charges in the uk,buy a sim in any 02 shop in the south of Ireland and ask them to reg it for you ,give the address you are staying at and over a 4 month time you get 25 euro credit for 10 euro ,at the weekends it very cheap to phone back to the uk ,(think its 12cent a min to uk lineline)0
