Want To Uprgrade to Sky HD+, Need Some Advice

We currently have Sky+ downstairs, and a standard Sky box in our bedroom. The current offer is for a free Sky+ HD Box and installation. I'm happy to go for that, but my wife feels we should have some kind of discount on our package to reward us for our loyalty, or the £50 M&S vouchers, which are only available to new customers :o

She phoned up earlier and they didn't offer her anything, she asked for the M&S vouchers but they weren't having any of it.

Is it worth phoning the cancellation number and seeing what they offer us? I know some of you have got some great results from doing this. We get all the Sports and Movie channels so with the £10 HD charge each month, and 1 multiroom sub, we're going to be paying £70-something each month so I can understand why she is reluctant.

Any help and advice much appreciated :)

Sky don't ever reward loyalty, they only cut the price if they think you are serious about leaving. If you go to retentions you may get a deal, or you may not. No way of knowing, depends which adviser you get and what offers they have left that month.

i threatened to cancel yesterday and got free HD+ box & installation and half-price HD sub for 12 months - but that was after a number of sky botches in the past month meaning by the time i got to the cancelations department i'd already said i was pretty miffed (or words to that effect) to the shift supervisor...

  • I rang sky yesterday and asked if they had any offers for excisting customers and they offered me free hd+ box, free installation, 1/2 price hd sub for 12 months and i then asked about my broadband and managed to get that down to £7.50 a month :j

A timely bump, we decided to take the plunge and ordered HD on Friday. My wife(who has the gift of the gab, so handles these things) was on the phone for over an hour with the Sky bloke. We are getting a free HD box, free installation and another multiroom subscription for our son's bedroom :)

We are also switching our phone/broadband service from Talk Talk to Sky, and my wife asked him what he could offer us for doing this. We get half price line rental for 6 months. Not too bad, I suppose.

Our HD is getting installed on Tuesday morning and I can't wait

Are you sure you can switch from TT to Sky if your line is already LLU'd?

Local Loop Unbundling.Basically it's getting broadband useing Sky's own equipment in the BT exchange as opposed to 'Off-Net,which is far more expensive & unreliable which uses BT's equipment to give you broadband.

Dial 17070, it will define your no. for you. If you then get a series of numbered BT options (eg 'Option 2 BT Quiet Line test), then your line is still a BT line. If not, it's been LLU'd to TT's network.
With most providers it's not possible to switch LLU to LLU, you need to take your line rental back to BT first, but some people have reported thast Sky are one of the few ISP's willing to undertake a direct migration. Have you established though that Sky are also LLU on your exchange-otherwise you will be on the dire Sky Connect service (and pay a lot more)? Sky call centre staff rarely know this if you sign up on the phone, so it's always best to check it on the Sky website first.

You've got yourself a very good deal. Sky supply my line rental/calls & broadband & I'm very happy with my package. Saved a small fortune switching from BT & switched from AOL to SKY and wish I'd done it years ago.
