No contact - is it me?

I don't use eBay a great deal so i'm after opinions.

I sold 2 items on Friday midday to different buyers. These are collection only. I sent emails on Friday just after items sold asking each buyer when they intended to collect the item and letting them know this weekend was convenient for me. No response. I sent another email last night asking again when they intended collecting. No response as yet. Both buyers are very local (neighbouring village).

Am I expecting too much?

When should I expect them to get in touch?

Possibly expecting a little much if the items only sold on Friday.

The weekend is a very odd and awkward time to get hold of people, and it's wise to allow people a week or so to make arrangements for collecting an item rather than expecting them to buy on the Friday and pick up on the Saturday.

If no contact by next weekend I would be worried and/or starting disputes, but it's only been a day and a half at the most. I would wait until during the week to get hold of them.

If they are very local you might be able to go round and see if they are in now but I still wouldn't worry.

I'm back again. I sold some items on 19 November for collection. After two emails to the buyer he got in touch to apologise for not being in touch asking when would be convenient. I responded but have no heard anything since. I've chased up since just asking when he would be free so I could plan my weekend.

When should I put in a non-paying bidder alert?

Now. If nothing else it will jog his memory.

  • Why not ask for his details and give him a call?
  • It is over one week and had one reply? have you sent any more emails? if so i would start dispute, it might just get the barrel rolling

I think I'm being messed around. I've sent two texts to the mobile number provided and left a message this morning. I think I'll raise a non-paying bidder. I sort of resent that I have to chase this hard to get the items collected!

Would not advise this, if a seller turned up at my door with a item without prior arrangement I would not be a happy bunny! A buyer turned up at my home a week or 2 back after purchasing a item off my OH, he then got our details off the listing (OH is a business seller) and arrived my my door at 11am one morning, so he could collect his items, they cost him £9 and had free delivery anyway!! I was not happy. I would be less happy if it were a seller turning up, whos to say the buyer would have money on them, if they dont what would you do, drive them to a cash machine? Nah, dont do that! Email then, if no reply open a NPD on day 4, if they dont pay then you get your fees back and can re-list, they do pay and collect then great.

I won't do this. Like I said before, I do resent having to go to so much effort to get my item collected. Have raised NPB and will wait to see what happens.
