Kindle Accessories?

Options
Hi,
I'd like to buy a case and light for a new Kindle, but am not so keen on the £49.99 price for the official one (at almost half the price of the Kindle itself, it seems a bit steep). A Google shopping search brings up a few suggestions, but as there seem to be quite a few people on here who already have Kindles, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a particular product? Thanks :)

bump.gif Just wondering what Kindle accessories all you owners out there are happy with? I got the Kindle 3G and definitely want to geta cover for it. I was looking at this one
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-SILICONE-CASE-SKIN-COVER-AMAZON-KINDLE-3-3G-WIFI-/120657759248?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item1c17c34c10
and think it would do the job just to keep it clean.

I was tempted to get one with a light, but they look like they would need to have frequent changes of batteries, and, as I am wanting to use my kindle when I emigrate, then I was going to just get a solar powered reading light instead.

Can any of you owners out there give me your thoughts please?

silicone just attracts dust and fluff, and can get quite sticky to the touch, if held for long periods - it also only protects the back and sides of the kindle, so wont stop damage to the screen.

i know they are a bit more bulky, but i bought one of the flip leather cases off ebay (not attractive, but they are functional) for about £10 - came with a book light, but unfortunately this is longer than the case, so sticks out the end all the time

I honestly didn't realise that the cover didn't have a screen protector on it, as it says it protects the device from scratches. It is really the screen I want to protect. Am just going to get a solar powered reading light instead of one that I need batteries for.

In case you did not realise the Kindle cover with the light is powered off the Kindle itself.

I didn't realise that!! Mind you, the real amazon ones with lights are very expensive! And I know, I just paid £152 but that was a very rare expensive purchase for me and I don't have another £40+ to spend on a cover.
The ones with lights that I had been looking at on ebay were really rubbish lights that I have tried before as reading lights and wasn't impressed with.

  • I've never owned a book with a built-in light and have never used a book light.

If it's dark and I want to read, I turn a lamp on.

I realise this makes me odd.

I got a faux leather case off eBay for a tenner which is perfect. Very importantly (to me) the closure tab is attached to the flap, not to the back of the case - this means it can't bend over the Kindle screen while I'm reading.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

I would never have thought of looking at where the clip is....THANKS! I am just looking at the fake leather ones now to see what one i want. I use the back light on my phone to read by as I don't have a bedside lamp, and when I am abroad I don't have a reading light either, so I am going for one without a light.
