Gill & cornishlady - I see from your locations you are in Cornwall. We are going camping there this summer so wondered if you could point me in the direction of any Cornish specific moneysaving forums/threads, if there are any (did a search but information overload). Or any other tips would be much apreciated! Going near Newquay, have already thought about Tesco rewards for Eden project and have subscribed to the Days Out thread so I can start looking early. TIA!
  • Well done on getting a sensible [and positive] reply from Tesco in clear English. As yet I am still waiting for them to clarify the clear as mud response that I had - maybe they wouldn't work it out for themselves either! *rolls eyes*

I was v impressed - it is very clear - this is it:

    Dear Thriftybynature

Thank you for your email addressed to Sir Terry Leahy, our Chief Executive, to which I've been asked to reply.

I was concerned to learn that your Waitrose conditional spend coupon wasn't accepted at your local store because it wouldn't scan, however as the Sainsbury one was, I don't understand why this one was cancelled. Please accept my sincere apologies for any upset or annoyance that this may have caused.

As Waitrose and Sainsbury are two of the competitors that we do accept these coupons from, this really shouldn't have been a problem. However, as one of your coupons didn't scan through our checkout, our store staff felt they couldn't accept it. We are currently looking into why this happened.

Due to this complaint, a communication has now been sent to all our stores that if any problems such as this should occur again, they can temporarily override the scan and enter the coupon separately to ensure our customer receives the appropriate discount.

I have also made xxxx xxxxxxx, our Store Manager, aware of the way that this matter was dealt with in our store. xxxx will take this up with her staff and I'm confident that every effort will be made to ensure this doesn't happen again.

For your future information, we currently accept conditional spend coupons from the following competitors:

    ASDA
    Morrisons
    Boots
    Sainsburys
    Co-op
    Marks & Spencer
    Waitrose
    Aldi

By way of an apology for the further upset that this has caused, I've written to you separately enclosing a £20.00 Tesco Moneycard with my compliments.

Thank you for bringing this matter to the attention of our Chief Executive.

Hope the letter says the same thing!

We did Eden Project, Flambards and the Sealife Centre in Newquay all on Tesco. Can't remember if we also did Jamaica Inn with clubcard deals. We love Cornwall. :)
