Sainsburys never had the policy of accepting the coupons without buying the product....;)
actually, in the very good old days - they'd take up to 20 coupons when you had not bought the product - even their own Sainsbury ones. They changed policy in 1999.
Once they issued a £4 coupon off Guiness and Smirnoff bought together - I think it was - can still remember trollying £80 worth of stuff a time out of the store!0 -
Oh. So I've been really lucky with a couple of SA's then who have actually been letting mine go through until recently. Tesco's don't take them either where I live so what shops are taking them as otherwise I don't understand the point of printing them off on this thread?0

Don't forget to thank IS on the front page before you leave TIA
Umm, what does IS and TIA mean? Also, is everyone just printing off the coupons then and hoping for the best and just chucking them in the bin when they're not accepted??0 -

Thanks mm5. Yes IS is doing a great job which is why I'm trying to understand that if its such a hit and miss affair getting the coupons accepted at all, why so much effort has been put into putting the printable coupon links up at all? I'm not trying to be difficult as I love this thread and everyone is always so friendly and helpful but I just don't understand the above bit and I still don't understand what shops will take them?0 -
If coupons aren't accepted we just all sod off somewhere else where they are. If you read thoroughly through the first pages of this thread all will become apparentAKA; Mad, MM, MM5, Madicles  ©

Couponning now is becoming a bit of an art, obviously it is not so beneficial as it was when we could use them without buying the product. However, now and again it is possible to save a substantial amount, by combining the coupons with offers for example recently I was emailed a £5 coupon from Finish and as the product was only £4.97 ish in Sainsbury I actually got the product free and made a small profit. Sometimes if a product is on BOGOF you can use two coupons and get the item really cheaply.
Keep your eyes open and try to find more coupons and spot bargains - this website comes in very useful when trying to decide which supermarket to use the coupons:-

The bottom line is : only print coupons that you are going to use( ie : actually buy the product). All of us here knows that Tesco/Sains/ etc will accept the coupon as long as we purchase the said product on the coupon.. Using coupons without buying the products long gone......:(
