Best Broadband and Phone package

Hello,
I would like to ask fo your advice on the best package for what I want to do.
I use reasonably fast broadband (8MB) and use a medium level of downloads - youtube, bbc iplayer etc. I make phone calls to landlines and mobiles at any time (both our mobiles are orange). I am willing to change my email address so this does not tie me to a supplier. I use Freeview/Freesat TV so I am not worried about film/sport bundles
I am currently with Plusnet (therefore presumably BT Landline rather than LLU) - who is regarded as a 'good' supplier, but my broadband/phone costs remain at about £50 monthly. Landline to mobile and vice versa seem to be the main culprits.
Your advice would be very welcome.

Landline to mobile calls are never inclusive in call packages and will always bump up your bills unless you use a cheaper override provider. Why not use your mobile's inclusive minutes for such calls?
Broadband is exchange specific, so no general advice can be given without knowing your exchange.
Go to www.samknows.com and do an exchange search. Post your LLU options, these will be the best deals for you.
Correct, Plusnet is a non-LLU service. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'd recommend IDNet. They're not the cheapest by a long way, but if there's one thing I'm prepared to pay for it's service.
You won't be signing up to a long contract (just one month), so if you don't like them you can leave easily. (You will like them and you won't want to leave).
They consistently rank as one of the top ISP'. I've recommended them to 20 people (ish) who now use them. None has regretted it. At least two of those were using Plusnet.
An acid test is to just give them a ring and see how long it takes to get through to tech support.
I can't post a URL, but you won't have trouble finding their site. The Internet. Allowing little people to get a power trip since 1996.0 -

There you go.
Good advice by the way, I am also with IDNet and can confirm your comments.0 -
I have just sent a reply and and lost it by pressing wrong button. But it was to thank for service being important & recommendation of idnet. I have been grappling for 2 days with who could be broadband/phone provider, as I had such appalling service from Pipex with no phone service for 17 days especially as during that time there was an ongoing police investigation for a murder just yards away from our home and I am a disabled pensioner. I had narrowed choice down to Orange at 21.50 anytime, or BT with its home-hub which I hoped would give faster speeds (we only get 1.5-2mbps). I like to use cashback sites as recommended and was also considering Plusnet but reading some of your forum members maybe that's not so good for my daughter who has large files to download sometimes. Oh dear my thankyou has become as confused as myself. Could you post this on the forum in case anyone has any thoughts about my plight. PS Enjoyed Martin on the Apprentice x0

Orange is consistently rated as on of the worst IS'Ps in the Uk-don't go there. And BT is not are behind. Your speed will no improve just by the use of a HomeHub-which is just a rather average wireless router.
Post your LLU options from a samknows exchange search and better advice can be given. No free lunch, and no free laptop

What did you find wrong with IDNet?
They are in a different league to both Orange ( read Lemon ) and the dreaded BT.0 -
I was with pipex in the old days when they were good. Now I'm with idnet and have been for about 3 years
While not the cheapest, they are reliable and the CS is excellent. I'd rather pay a bit more for an excellent service, then less for a rubbish service:j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0 -
Thankyou all so much I have decided to go with IDnet. What a relief!! x0
