Broadband in the Military - BT ripoff!

Hi all,

Before I start, I'd like to point out I've tried using the search feature, but without any luck. If you do know of a link that'll help, please feel free to post it :)

Now, here's my problem; BT.

I'm in the military, and in our accommodation (SLAM block) we have a pre-installed BT line. They offer an unlimited broadband package, but it's at a rediculas price, working out at around £42 a month - about 4 times the price of what it'd cost on civvie street!
So my question is this; does anyone know if other companies can be used, even though BT would of installed the lines into each room?

I currently use a internet dongle, but need to upgrade it to a faster landline connection.

Cheers all

Is it individual line per room with phone as well as BBand.
Secondly, are which service are you in & where?

(For the Civ Div here,SLAM is Single Living AccoMadation iirc..it's been a few years since I was a singly!)

Yes, it's a line into each room including phone. The 18month BT contract includes a phone and wireless router. As far as I'm aware the BT techy just flicks a switch to turn on access to each room...

I'm in the RAF, based at Honington (Suffolk)
    Cheers
