ASDA parking ticket

I am a law abiding citizen and respect the disabled parking schemes however. Although I would certainly seek an alternative spot if there only a couple of disabled bays, on the occasion I received a ticket there were in excess of 35 disabled spaces. I am 52 years old and suffer from severe pain in my left leg which has not been diagnosed yet although I await results from a hip x-ray. I was in the store for no more than 10 minutes and will never use it again if I am forced to pay a fine. This smacks of a get rich quick scheme and if there are warnings they are certainly not "high visibility". Can they enforce this nonsense?

You are quite right, it is nonsense. It is not legally enforceable and should be totally ignored. Now get payback and tell everybody who will listen not to pay the bogus 'fines' issued by Private Parking Contractors. This will put an end to the nonsense.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!

If your morals allow you to park in a disabled space then that is okay.

But if he has severe pains his leg that could affect his mobility. Private Parking Disability Bays are there for all 'disabled' people to use, not just blue badge holders; no?

Disabled bays, in a private car park, are for anyone to use;yes?
  • Hi,

I took my disabled mother to ASDA yesterday (I'm her registered carer)
and I forgot to put her blue badge in the windscreen. On discovering it
I immediately returned to ASDA and spoke to two managers who told me
it was a private company (but admitted the £60 would ultimately find
its way back to ASDA) and they couldn't do anything. He inspected the
blue badge and the other manager took it away and photocopied it for
me, after which they said I should send it to the company and appeal.
My mother used her debit card to pay for the shopping (£130) so I can
prove she was there at that time with me - and she used their scooter.
She was also greeted by a couple of staff members she knew from
previous visits. So we can prove that she was there. As far as I can
see the only thing I have done wrong is fail to display the badge and
although I respect their reasons for issuing it, at the point after which I
showed them the blue badge I don't feel I should be punished/penalised.
So after reading several threads on this site and others I decided to
write to ASDA via email stating my case. It was not an angry letter but
I did tell them that I would not correspond with the parking company
(Town and City Parking Limited) and that I'm willing to go to court to
resolve this dispute. This was yesterday, I await reply from ASDA.

But I'm nervous about this whole scenario and I don't like the bullying
tactics that await me - I have no intention of paying because I don't
see what I'm compensating them for, certainly not to the tune of £60.
Did I do the right thing? Should I write a nice apologetic letter to this
Town and City Parking Limited and hope they 'let me off'? Should I
contact a solicitor? Or should I simply ignore the whole thing?

    Don't pay it end of.

I spoke to an Asda memeber of staff the other day who told me that Asda cancel ticket put on members of staffs cars.

    I wonder why they bother?

They should just tell the staff to ignore them.

Parked a minibus in Asda, which was nearly 2 bays in length whilst I went in to buy a few things. saw the PPC troll looking at the bus, went up to him and told him that I would not be paying any unenforceable invoice he may place on the vehicle, as I was in the store with the purpose of buying something. he blanched and walked away. Came out later, no ticket

My brother went shopping with my niece some time ago and got a ticket, he was in his van and parked across two bays one a child bay , how else is he supposed to park in this vehicle? they don't say no vans allowed so its not a car park but a vehicle park, he was with a small child as she was in a car or van seat, so its not his fault the bays don't accomodate his vehicle, and he knows to ignore the invoice ;)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Well he had a child in the vehicle, so tough on the ppc, they are obviously getting diddly squat. Incidentally a nice earner (in their minds) is where a vehicle is too wide for a bay, like a Hummer won't fit so automatically is ticketed, as are some vans like Sprinters VW LT, Crafter, Iveco Daily.
