Which is better? Leaving the money to one side for the moment, Quality, reliability, channels, usability of HD boxes? At this present time Virgin Media can’t give me as much HD channels as Sky but they say they are working on it! Money wise they seem cheaper and are doing a deal for 6 months. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

This is generally discussed daily or weekly at best, do a forum search normally a fairly even split of opinions/arguments.
Try both and see what you prefer, Virgin picture quality varies by area, see one of your neighbours pictures.0 -
I've tried both. I was with sky for years, believing they were the best bet. Beginning of the year I realised just how much I was actually paying and moved to Virgin. I have exactly the same channels (sky 1 etc) as before and all the same services. The picture quality seems better ! And a bonus of saving over £30.00 per month!!!!!!
Hope this helps.0 -
Kurtis Blue & STU.. many thanks!0

We had sky tv for close to 15 years. In all of that time i think we had to telephone them ONCE about a fault with our tv service.
After everyone nagging me about why i had my tv package with sky and my broadband with virgin media - hence paying out more per month - i changed my complete package over to virgin media , biggest mistake i have ever made !
In the 6/7 months since i have been on virgin media tv , i have had to ring up to report a fault on average once a week !
The tv freezes continuously , channels are unavailable ect.
To make matters worse , when you ring the 151 report a fault line , you get foreign staff who i have nothing against except the language barrier makes it very difficult to communiacte to them what exactly the problem is !
They always appear as if they are reading from a blo ody script and dont actually listen to you !
As soon as my 12 month contract is up i will be hot footing it back to sky tv. Sometimes saving a few quid just isnt important. The loopy one has gone :j0 -
If you get the Samsung V+ box I gather Virgin is great... unfortunately you get what the engineer has on the van, and we have the SA box and it's utterly utterly diabolical.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

use the forum

far better service and then can sort out engineer visits far quicker than on the phone
however i (and quite a few others) are having issues with audio sync using separate speaker sets up
so unless VM get this sorted i'll be ditching them0 -

Virgin!
cheaper, and better. And the broadband is superfast if you get cable0 -
I think Virgin are decent personally. I have had a few problems but thats part and parcel of a digital world. The internet is really fast and the telephone service not too shabby either.
With regards to Sky, they are also really really good, but the only problem is if the weather is really bad then the signal can simply vanish and u are left with a blue screen!!!!No One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0 -
I would like to move from Sky to Virgin if it is cheaper but it always comes up as much more expensive! I have Sky sports 4 mixes and broadband pay £52 and Virgin want almost £80. Am I doing something wrong??:mad:0
