Advice on building and contents insurance

Hi all

My insurance is up for renewal and i was wondering if anyone can advise which ones are best to go for that include home emergency cover?

  • Most home emergency policies are an absolute joke ... e.g. if you have more than 1 bathroom, or a bath AND a shower, and the bath or shower suffer a leak, you're not covered ... BECAUSE it's not an emergency ... BECAUSE you can isolate the leak and stop it from causing any further damage.

    I used to sell a well known home emergency policy for a well known bank's main insurance company.

    Unless you're getting it for FREE and live in a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom house, it's practically useless.

    Just had a quote from Barclays for £275 including emergency cover or £235 without,thought these prices were pretty good,but if the home emergency cover is useless maybe i should leave this off.
