AOL Contract.

I took out a contract with AOL in Dec 09 for wireless broadband and something to do with phone calls. (I have been so !!!!!! at my affairs and finances for a while I don't even know.. but getting them in order now)
I don't know how long the contract is for but it's either 18 or 24 months, so only 12 months gone.
The deal was that I pay 6.50 for three months then 12.99. I was paying 15.99 I think.
I pay them by credit card.
The thing is, I really want to do this Virgin deal for 9.99 which includes broadband, calls and tv (I cancelled my Sky).
Can I break my contract? What's the worst they will do?
I've been with AOL for about 10 years, by the way.

Of course you can break it. But if you do so, you will have to pay an early termination fee. If you don't pay that, they will trash your credit record for you.
Please can you post a ink to this amazing VM offer, because it sounds just too good to be true (and I'm sure it is-£9.99pm wouldn't even give you line rental, let alone calls, TV and broadband)? No free lunch, and no free laptop

It doesn't give you line rental, but broadband, tv and calls I think. It's an online offer.
Oh it looks like it's £9.50 not £9.99.

What do you think? It says that's half price and it goes up to full price after 6 months.0 -
Yes, and the full price is £19.25pm after 6m-more than double. And if you read it a bit more carefully you will see that it does not include the line rental, which adds £12.24pm. So the true monthly cost is £31.49.
The BB is the minimum speed(10Mbps) and the phone is weekend inclusive calls only. For all your evening and daytime calls you'll pay on top-and VM telephony is the most expensive in the UK.
And it's an 18m contract-work out your true costs over the full contract period, that is the only relevant figure, not the misleading headline offer price.
Still interested? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Yes. I rarely use the land line anyway, for which I have been paying £16. My internet is £12.99 and my Sky £24 so basically I'm already paying £52.99 for virtually the same services.0

OK< but not quite the bargain you thought it was though. Then you have to decide if it's worth paying a hefty ETC...
And remember that once you have gone to a VM cable service, you are stuck with VM forever unless you want to pay £120 to reconnect your BT line. There are no alternative providers on cable. No free lunch, and no free laptop
