Sounds like you !!!!ed up. What is this "security tool" exactly? Let me guess, was it a pop-up on a website?

    Is a trust worthy website.

I've never tried rkill to be honest. If you have any problems let us know.

If alienRIK turns up, he may have better removal information.

    If above fails use this

save Hitman Pro to your Desktop(32bit) or

    For 64bit , click here

Once saved, hold down the Ctrl key situated on the left of the keyboard whilst double clicking on the Hitman Pro .exe file in order to start the program. Then follow the simple instructions.

I have a question regarding this because they seem to be pretty prevelant these days.

If i was working on my comp and one of these fake security tools pops up what should i do?

    should i

Go to task manager and shut it down there..?

or just log of my computer, and restart,if i do this will it come back?

what would be the best thing to do strait away to stop this from downloading onto the computer.

    Thankyou all.

Just don't click on the pop-up, or better still, don't go on the dodgy sites that have them.
  • I don't know which sites are giving these away but...

Pop-ups appearing is a sign that you are already infected...

If you see these pop-ups, open a new thread.
  • Download Malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org, free version is great. Update and run a full scan.

How do you know until it's too late.

I'm just working on a mates laptop with this infection, he caught it whilst looking at instructions for a gas cooker!

He admits it's his fault, working very long hours and half asleep at the time, clicked pop up, insists on using I.E. :(

p.s. Malwarebytes has just found 7 infections, all Security Tool.
    Move along, nothing to see.

It is not dodgy sites, very respectable sites have been hacked to point you to the infection.

The following assumes you have not given permission to install anything prior.

As soon as you get a suspect pop up,STOP, DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING ! in the page, it may also look like a windows message box with your desktop showing.

Go to your START BUTTON and select TURN OFF.. or press and realease your ON button, which will/should shut your computer down, though do check NOW if this is the case, if it hibernates or sleeps then this will not work, use the Start button and Turn Off.

Then when you restart you should be OK.

I have run an infection in a sandbox, and this I have found is the easiest way to deal with it.
