it's more cheaper that two weeks ago :(

Hello, I booked my Cuba holiday (2 adults + 1 child)with Thomas Cook 10 days ago... and now its £400 cheaper than I paid. I am 99% sure its not possible to ask for some money back, but at least can I ask them to book my flight seats together free of charge? they asked me if I wanted to pay for that option when I was booking the holiday... but it was ~£60 extra..
All advices highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Vasara, what makes you think that they should give you something extra free of charge just because your holiday is now on offer at a lower price? this thing happens all the time and you basically you accept and agree on a price at the time of booking and that is the price you pay. Would you be quite willing to pay an extra £400.00 for your holiday if the holiday price had gone up since booking?

    I think not.

Did you book on the net or with a travel agent? If you have booked with a travel agent, you might want to ask them if they will have a word asthey might, just might, be able to do something depending on how good the agent is and how sympathetic the admin person is at TC's that they speak with, but don't get your hopes up.

    BTW, when are you travelling?

as above it is just one of them things i do not check prices again after booking my holiday.

the fact is travel agents etc use a live booking system so prices can go up or down at anytime but they do not get in touch asking for more money should the price increase.
  • Thanks for your replies
    I knew I shouldn’t check prices after....silly me :)
I booked it with a travel agent and I’m off to Cuba in 3 weeks’ time. I went there last year and paid less what I've paid now. But anyway...amazing holiday and I don’t regret for what I've paid. Sorry for wasting your time.

The thing is, that you might be paying a bit more booking at the time you are booking, BUT if you are going to wait until the prices go down you are taking the risk that there will be no nice places you like left.

I have done this in past, waited until prices went down a little more, I picked several hotels that looked good and had good reviews and guess what? As these nice places were in demand and the company had last room, the price of that specific hotel went UP by £100 and then was gone.

If you have specific date/hotel/location in mind, the risk is massive and that is why people book in advance.

You can afford to wait only if you are very flexible.

You have to choose / do you want the stress of that risk? You can't have it both ways-good price and the place you like with piece of mind.
  • Any,
    you are absolutely right....
