Is there a new offer going around from Amex? This offer was back in November and I got the cashback paid in pretty much a week or 2 after my last transaction with the 8th merchants.0

Have you not had the credit this was for a offer before Christmas. I haven't had mine and am presently chasing it up but their response is to ignore you. Once I get the credit I will be closing the account. As far as I am concerned they have the worse customer service you can imagine.Boris_Allen wrote: »I hope so, because as far as I'm concerned I've already met the criteria by spending at 8 of the places, and all bar one of those transactions was less than £1!
Will have to wait and see what happens on my statement next month...0 -

Yup, I only just got the invite a few days ago. I completely agree that Amex is useless. I got the card a few year's back because of the 5% cashback reward, knowing I had some large retail purchases to make anyway, but hardly any of the retailers accepted amex!!!
Once the cashback scheme expired, I stopped using the card completely until I got wind of the dormancy fee, so every now and then I reactivate it and pay off the balance immediately. I would close it down if I weren't so lazy, but it's occasionally useful for this kind of offer.
On a related note, I have several credit cards that were opened for similar schemes and now lie dormant. Do credit reference bureaus log my total credit exposure in this way and if so would it count against me or would i need defaults for that to be the case. Trying to open up a First Direct bank account but I keep being rejected and as far as I can tell there's no good reason for it!B.A - Shut up fool!0
