CHeap Sms to Germany
Hi everybody,
I'm looking for a way to cheaply sms from my Voda contract phone as I mainly text abroad and hardly use my free minutes.
I have free minutes and a text bundle but as far as I'm aware every provider excludes the use of included sms to outside the UK. I mainly text to Germany and was wondering if somebody knew of any company or provider that has a special deal for texting abroad, ie Germany and Switzerland. I am happy to go PAYG or change from Voda to another provider...
Many thanks for your help
Judith

hey judith,
the cheapest way i know of is via o2 PAYG. they charge 10p per international message but first you have to add their international text bolt on which costs around £5. this £5 you will make back after say about 50 texts to germany/swis,0 -
If you can use a PC this is a great site for free SMS to Oz and Germany no ads or hassle. Its based in Oz but includes Germany and Isreal for some reason. http://www.icq.com/download/icq2go/ just register and set up your contacts and away you go.0

That site in the post above mine and others mostly do PC access for sending, but there are one or two that offer sending via wap/gprs from the mobile phone.
Several VoIP providers have PC sending for prices in that area - the Finarea companies Voipbuster Voipcheap and a few others, Skype, Voipfone, Babble ...
Then there are several other sites that offer even free services from a PC - a couple of threads around so try a search on here. It needs careful attention to the terms and conditions to avoid services that will start sending unwanted premium rate messages back to your own number ...
Babble also have a wap/gprs client in beta, so I wouldn't be surprised if others are developing this (I haven't tried it yet or heard of anyone else, so I don't know how well it's going). Also look out for smsBug, also via wap/gprs - though I couldn't get it working myself
If you need to send all your texts from the phone then there isn't as much choice yet, so I hope I didn't mislead you.0 -
