Had a bill for hospital meeting I didn't know I'd be charged for. What should I do?

In their earlier post they clearly stated that they were going to a private hospital. They also refer to the process being a wise investment, so making it clear that they knew this was a private referral. Not rocket science, is it?
If he said that in an earlier post then fine, but I haven't seen it, has it been deleted?0 -
Didn't see that when it was posted the OP must have deleted it.
On another thread OP stated quite clearly:
Thought I'd quickly add my experiences as it might be of help to somebody. I've been to see a specialist at a private hospital (Nuffield) who specialises in skin cancer. I have several moles I'm looking to have removed, and I suggested if the laser treatment was an option. They suggested it's not a good idea for removing moles at all as it's only removing the surface and all removed moles need to be checked by a pathologist. They also said a big 'no' to the creams and various other mole solutions you can find online.
My experience has been very easy so far and whilst I will have to pay probably a four figure sum, I see it as a wise investment in the long term.
So if you're concerned about a mole (or several in my case), I really would recommend going to see your GP at first, who will then probably refer you to a specialist as in my case.
It is not at all usual for NHS GP consultations to end up with a private referral unless the patient asks for it. I really don't think we want to scare people reading this by suggesting that somehow they can rack up a private medical bill without knowing it, it cannot be done without their approval.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. For someone that claims to know better than everybody else you're not doing too well today - follow the link to the original post?
I think you owe Apples2 an apology.
I certainly do not owe Apples2 an apology, Apples2 posted this:So the OP requested a Private Consultation to discuss their own idea.
The Specialist poo poo'd the idea
Now the OP doesn't want to pay the bill.
This was posted without any link to another thread so it can only be assumed that it was imagination.
If Apples2 had posted a link I would have been impressed with the detective work.0 -
Apples2 read post #10...you didn't when it was there to be seen by you.0

You are right I didn't notice that post 10 referred to another thread, but I doubt it matters because that other thread is not talking about the same visit.Mine'sAPintPlease wrote: »I didn't complain at the time, as I then sought out someone else who was far more helpful. My experience has been very easy so far and whilst I will have to pay probably a four figure sum, I see it as a wise investment in the long term.

You are making yourself look very silly now. The four figure sum refers to the whole course of treatment. The £100+ refers to the initial consultation. In post #16 the OP acknowledges that the post I quoted is the one in question.
It's ok to admit you were wrong ... and then of course to apologise to Apples2!Gone ... or have I?0 -

If I'm wrong I will be very happy to apologise to you both, but where did you get the The £100+ refers to the initial consultation.Mine'sAPintPlease wrote: »I didn't complain at the time, as I then sought out someone else who was far more helpful. If I'd have known I was being charged I would have said something at the time. I assumed it was a NHS referral, but I've learnt an expensive lesson.
Thanks for the helpful (and not so helpful) replies.
I feel that he means here that he didn't complain about the £100 visit because he then had a the course of treatment at a different hospital.0
