So the OP requested a Private Consultation to discuss their own idea.

The Specialist poo poo'd the idea

Now the OP doesn't want to pay the bill.

What an active imagination you have.......:rotfl:

You all enjoy this place so much don't you, there's always a chance to bully someone. You were all probably bullied at school and now you can have your turns to bully back without the danger of a broken nose. :rotfl:

I'd start with your GP. Did he make the referral for private treatment knowing you were going to have to pay? Why wasn't this explained.

But I'd be inclined to think it's one of those schemes where NHS patients get sent for private treatment to reduce waiting lists etc, and the hospital or GP has cocked up. Again, it's up to your GP to sort this out (did they do the paperwork right, for example).

Its not the GP's nor the hospital's job to sort this out. The OP went to a private hospital rather than wait for the NHS (assuming the above info is correct). Therefore it is for them to pay up or be chased for the debt! Cant see why the NHS or GP should waste any of their time to look into this!

Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!
  • I didn't complain at the time, as I then sought out someone else who was far more helpful. If I'd have known I was being charged I would have said something at the time. I assumed it was a NHS referral, but I've learnt an expensive lesson.

Thanks for the helpful (and not so helpful) replies.

Had you bothered to read the post, you will see that Apples2 was spot on. I don't think it is Apples2 that is doing the bullying here, it is you who follows people around picking on them.

That contradicts what you said in your earlier post?

A normal referral is always done within the NHS. A GP will only refer to a private clinic/hospital on the patient's express request.
Patients seen in a private hospital as part of an NHS waiting list initiative are initially referred within an NHS referral which is then diverted within the NHS system.

In their earlier post they clearly stated that they were going to a private hospital. They also refer to the process being a wise investment, so making it clear that they knew this was a private referral. Not rocket science, is it?
