Need to choose a new phone!
Hi, I need some help - at the moment I have a Samsung u900 and am due an upgrade. I did get an iphone 3gs but sent it back, as even putting the sim in confused me?! It felt like an expensive phone to have with 3 young children and I wasn't sure about such an expensive 2 year deal...
So, I want a phone that I can use for texting, emailing and browsing (facebook etc) does anyone have any ideas?
I have been looking at the blackberry bold or HTC desire. I am a bit of a technophobe so I need it to be simple to set up and use!!
TIA

I'd choose the BlackBerry Bold. They are relatively easy to set up if I can remember correctly. Plus, the keyboard is really easy to type on so it's good for texting and emailing etc, plus the email client is very good!

The HTC is super simple to set up, just log in to Gmail (or you can set up an account on the phone) and it pulls down all your emails/contacts/calendar.Target Save £1k
So far £625/£1000 :j0 -
if you are concerned about the price of the phone then I wouldnt advise a Blackberry or HTC as these too are also pricey compared to other phones. I agree with Deady tho that the Blackberry is the way forward if you cant get to grips with the iPhone.
My advise would be maybe the Nokia N97. Its got the Smartphone touch screen and the QWERTY keyboard for ease of typing. its also great for facebook/twitter etc etc.
Good Luck with it though. Its a toughy picking new phonesNo One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0 -
Maybe one of the budget Android phones .

Nokia 5800 fairly basic but cheap and will do all the things you need.0

Thanks, the reason I think the iphone is too expensive is that I can't get a good deal on it, it's £35 a month and no budging.
I think i can get a good retention deal (having had a look at the orange thread) on the HTC desire so it won't cost me as much on a monthly basis.
Another reason I returned the iphone is because my pc is old and knackered so I can't update itunes (no idea why, it just won't let me download anything) so I wouldn't be able to sync it with itunes. And the booklet said I would need to in order to set it up?
Would I need to connect the HTC desire to my pc to set it up? Sorry if its a dumb question!!!!
Basically I want an iphone that's not an iphone!!!! I just want to be able to check my emails and facebook etc while on the bus to work (and while sitting at me desk
) on a nice simple, but fabulous phone! 0 -
Nope, literally just type in your Google Account details and you're good to go!
you dont even have to do that, but I would say it is best if you do as it backs up all your contacts and calendar (awesome if your phone gets loost/stolen as you dont loose your contacts) to gmail and makes it super easy to use gmail email on the phone.
all you need is a gmail account if you dont have one already, but you can easily add hotmail to the phone aswell if you use hotmail just use these settings:
Email address: your email address
Server address: m.hotmail.com
Domain: blank
Username: full email address
Password: ******
server requires an encrypted SSL connection: say yes/tick0 -
Ive got the Samsung Galaxy S best phone ive ever had and really easy to set up gmail and external emails.0
