Have I made an ebay mistake?

I bought and paid for this phone on wednesday. I stupidly did not check the delivery times (feel so stupid, I am normally careful  )

It said estimated delivery 15-27 days and the postage was £7. I asked him if he could send it sooner, which he was fine about if I paid him £17.

I have sold phones before and knew that was quite expensive. Then he messaged me and said just to pay the original price as he needed the money and he was sending next day.

I have since emailed him and had no response, I had clicked the box INR as a heading and the estimated delivery time said 9-29th December.
Is there anything can I do?
The item number is 290500816770

Thank you for taking the time to read.

The long delivery time appears to be because the seller has chosen the postage option of 'Economy Delivery from outside UK' now whether that means that the phone itself is actually outside the UK (so is presumably coming from somewhere like China) or whether he's just made a mistake when choosing postal options is something you will have to discuss with him. If the guestimate delivery date really is the 29th December then I would be looking to file a cautionary dispute with Paypal or Ebay as that date puts you very close to the 45 day limit that you have to claim in should something go wrong.

Are you located anywhere near the seller (Barnsley, Yorkshire) and could maybe arrange to go and collect the phone in person ?
  • Log in eBay, use this link to enter item number and his user ID.

You will get an email with his info on then. Phone him up and ask why it takes a month to post from Barnsley.

IMO, it sounds like a scam.
  • Sounds like drop shipping. Personally I would open an INR dispute at the earliest opprtunity, paypal do not take delivery times in to consideration.

    Drop shipping is....

On ebay I sell you a book. You pay me then I order it from Amazon and Amazon ship it directly to you.

It is allowed as long as it is made clear in the listing.

However in this instance the phone is second hand, so it doesn't fit the normal drop shipping profile.

    This is a weird one.

  • Thank you everyone for your replies, it is much appreciated. If I paid on Wednesday when would be the best time to do an INR? I could be totally cynical and it might turn up :)
