Well, you could change that bit.
:rotfl:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Just need a rant and makes sure I am doing the right next step.
Just phones littlewoods ater reciving another statement from them with more charges on them, asking why none of my letters have been agnowledged and why I am still reciving them.
Got told that she doesnt know if any letters have been recived, but they do not enter into written contact, only the letters they send me or phonecalls.
She said that as of today it has been passed onto a debt recovery firm and I will have to sort out payments with them. I said that it wasnt my debt, she said "you are wanty arent you?" I said yes, she said "well its your debt then" Told her I had never ever signed anything, and that an agent had passed it on to me and I made payments of good will, she said that it is legally my debt because it was in my name reguardless of a signed credit agreement. If I want to debate it, its up to me to track my mother down and pursue her for the debt.

lol - that's a good one.
Must try that. Pick a random person (say Fred), say a friend owes me a lot of money, I've decided to collect this from Fred and it's up to him to pursue my friend for the debt.
Occasionally you hear of things that you really hope go to court.
Just tell the debt recovery firm that you dispute the debt and Littlewoods know that. And that all dealing should be in writing - after that call just tell them to write as requested.0 -
iwanttosave wrote:Great, thats exactly what I didn't want. he actually knows where my mum is, he goes to her on holiday every so often, but he would still come down on me.
I feel I am missing something here....
He is still pals with your mum as he holidays with her (how about him paying the holiday contribution to you so you can put it against the sofa debt you are paying for your Mum!!)
Plus, Mum thinks the debt should be yours because she couldn't get a buyer for the sofa and gave it to you!!!!
What is this - "everybody's a hero except wanty" time?? Talk about teflon jackets!!!
:rotfl: :rotfl:
Have you tried to sell the sofa yourself? Have you offered Littlewoods back the sofa as your mum abandoned it when she moved?
If you need help drafting letters, might be worth a trip to the Citizens Advice - they are fabulous at helping out in these situations. They can usually provide legal assistance too where you need to know, legally, where you stand.
I have a vitriolic (good word eh!) hatred for companies like Littlewoods who target financially vulnerable people and then turn nasty once people realise they are in too deep.

Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Ooh, this is a case I would *so* go to Watchdog with. If it wasn't upsetting the OP so much it would be laughable. It's bullyboy tactics pure and simple. Littlewoods haven't got a leg to stand on and they are just trying to intimidate you into paying. Grrrrrr.0

I havent tried selling the sofa because then OH wouldnt have a place to put his feet up  :rotfl:
Think I will write a letter to head office, and also put in the bullies that they have in the call center

Letter straight to Littlewoods Head office, as well as the debt firm when they send the letter. In the letter to Littlewoods I would also include the harrasment by the agent towards you, regardless of the fact he knows where your mum is, infact if he done that heis likely to make things rather awkward for himself by not providing them with her details in the first place and he is fraudulently chasing you.
As much as its unwelcome hassle you know is unfair, a trip to the CAB would not only help to stop this but you yourself could claim harrassment from them on the whole and see how fast they drop it.
As for your mum, dont know the history but to leave it all down to you is dam right rude!0
