I couldn't agree more with this post. We found the price for underlay and grippers to be massively inflated by Carpetright. We bought our own and have been getting quotes from independents after Carpetrights. Carpetright actually then told us if we had our own underlay and gripper they would charge extra to fit it as it was ours and not theirs. Where's the logic in that? If they don't get you one way, they'll try and get you another!

Agree re the remnants - most of these we saw were at least £10 a metre or more - often you can find better value in their ordinary stock so remnants don't seem to be the bargain they once might have been.

As an aside - does anyone know of a good cheap source (possibly online) for door bars? Have seen some in Wilko and B&Q but we also need some very long ones for along a landing.

Reasonable business practice . If you don't like their prices go else where .

Well no actually, they won't get you one way or the other unless you are silly enough to let them!
