I think they may have stopped this calling a supervisor everytime you show a coupon, the last 2 times I went I have had no problems, no supervisor, how about anyone else, have you had a supervisor called .

I emailed Asda, and this was their reply :
    Thank you for your message.

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

To clarify our policy on accepting coupons; we accept them so long as the
product is sold by us subject to the terms and conditions on the back of the
coupon. We do not have to buy the product, unless the coupon comes from an ASDA
Magazine. The level of acceptance is down to the store's discretion, but is
typically 10% of your shop. This policy should be equally applied to all
    customers and at all checkouts.

I hope that this is of help to you, but please let me know if I can be of any
    further help in the future.

Wins : McCains garden games set, 2xTickets to Alton Towers, Links of London friendship bracelet, 2xIdeal Home Show tickets, McFly album CD, Virgin Balloon flight for 2 with a case of ScrumpyJack cider and 2 ltd edition jackets, Powerboat racing experience, £50 Virgin voucher, Aerobie Pro flying ring & Rice Krispie squares, Tesco baby pack

Thanks for that CrazyAngel. However this line
The level of acceptance is down to the store's discretion, but is
    typically 10% of your shop
basically means the store will probably do something completely different, in which case all of the above is a complete waste of time and pointless!.

I really don't see what the problem is. Asda are well within their rights to refuse to take a coupon if you haven't purchased the product.

In fact they don't even legally have to take coupons as they are not legal tender.

I work for Sainsbury's and we technically only take coupons as per the terms and conditions stated even though we just send them off to NCH for the money without having to prove the product was purchased.

I do, however, take invalid coupons from regular NICE customers and I'm probably not the only one who does so take note. Be nice to the checkout operator and it might pay off!!!!!!
Council Tax £1,928.85, Fines £90.00, Old Car Tax £267.00, Gas £337.25, Electric £54.42
    Car Tax Fine £80.00, B/card Visa £470.85, RBS M/C £759.69, M&S M/C £790.00, B/card M/C £2,592.01, House Ins/Title Deeds £1,573.54, Laptop Finance £578.45, Old Car Ins £85.73, Total debt £9,607.79

I used to be a checkout operator, so I know where your coming from. So in your opinion whats the best way to get our coupons past you?.

I usually find a nice smile and low cut top works wonders with the male operators. What do you suggest?

Well Sandybrag, a low cut top may well work with most male checkout operators, especially the school aged ones who have hormones racing through them - lol! It wouldn't work with me though as I'm gay but I'd admire your efforts though - lol!

Usually just smile, be polite and if the checkout operator chats to you then please at least try to chat back. It's VERY boring sitting in silence for 8 hours and we get into trouble if we don't make conversation anyway.

I've got an old lady who comes in and give me sweets when I take her invalid coupons (bless her) and another who calls me "Gavin Henson" and gives me cake. If all customers were as friendly as the OAPs then my job would be a joy.

One other tip, Sainsbury's coupons that say something like "Save £2.50 when you spend £10 on red wine" can be used on anything really. The till doesn't know whether you've bought red wine let alone how much you've spent. Hope this helps too.

    Marty82,

Thanks for your reply and very open and honest answer. I must admit I don't often shop at Sainsbury's as I agree they are often more fussy with my coupons. However, if I happen to be a Sainsburys near you, Ill be sure to send my husband through the till with his cheesy smile instead. Out of curiousity, do you get any men trying to chat you up on the till?
