Still not clear on my original Q - what is the differnce between Dell branded and other ones but have ordered one from retuk as it was couple of pounds cheaper that the other (non Dell) one I found.

The battery on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop does not hold charge all of a sudden. Even when left on charge all night it only runs for about 15 mins.

Assume therefore I need new battery, Dell's price £65.79. Found one on Amazon (sold thro another company) for £25 less although it's not a Dell one (just says it's suitable for my Dell laptop). Are they essentially the same product or do I get something extra for the extra cost if I get the Dell one?

    Thanks in advance.
The original dell battery will cost 130-150 usd on US site.
You may select other compatible but discount dell 1525 battery .
The dell 1525 notebook takes the 6-cell battery as default, If you want more battery life, Just go for a new 6600mah 9-cell dell 1545 battery here:

All the dell 152* series batteries are compatible.
  • I've never bothered with genuine/original Dell manufacturer batteries and the replacements have all been fine.

There isn't really a huge difference, but its worth purchasing from a reasonably reputable online company if you can.
  • The battery in my Dell Inspiron 1525 has just died and I have ordered one of those very cheap batteries from Ebay. I'll let you know how it works out. It was just £25.99 so I'm ready to lose my money if necessary. Dell have created this silly market by pricing the branded replacements so highly.

And also I don't want to throw any more money at this truly terrible laptop It is 3 years old and has had a new charger, two new hard drives and a new motherboard in that short time. Silly policy of Dell to produce such a bad model as I will never again buy a Dell, having spent many hours on the phone to their Indian call centre.Money saving advice for all is don't buy Dell laptops!
