Need replacement battery for Dell Laptop - should I buy from Dell?

The battery on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop does not hold charge all of a sudden. Even when left on charge all night it only runs for about 15 mins.
Assume therefore I need new battery, Dell's price £65.79. Found one on Amazon (sold thro another company) for £25 less although it's not a Dell one (just says it's suitable for my Dell laptop). Are they essentially the same product or do I get something extra for the extra cost if I get the Dell one?
Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the battery rating. Is it the same? If you purchase a battery with a higher 'cell' count, that can give you hours more usage per charge. Depends on your current batteries rating.0

Check carefully from where it is sourced. Most of the cheaper batteries come from British-sounding firms, but are actually located in China. No great problem with that - until you need service from the company.
It's unlikely you will get a battery with more cells which will fit in the battery compartment. Those netbooks with two different capacities of battery have those with the larger number of cells sticking inelegantly some way out the back.0 -
If that was the case, DELL wouldn't offer these batteries as extras during purchase. So if the OP has a four cell battery, a six cell would be a viable upgrade, without adding considerable bulk.
I'm not sure of the configuration, so the OP should check the variables actually offered by DELL and then go from there.0 -
I replaced the battery for my Dell with the same type as original but found Dell prices horrendous. I went via Amazon and saved about £50 for a genuine Dell battery.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

I want to replace like with like. I have six cell battery now and know that the one with higher cell count than that would stick out the back of the laptop a bit which is why I don't want to "upgrade".
The cell count on the one on amazon was the same as the dell one (and same as I have now).
I am just trying to understand whether the extra cost is essentially for the dell logo/branding or if there is a better quality battery e.g - would have longer lifetime or some other benefit. Think the amazon one was sold by charger4u or something like that.
Did not see an actual dell one on amazon.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -

Are they dell ones or dell compatible? Finding it hard to tell as wording on a lot of sites says things like "dell laptop battery" which on first glance made me think it was a dell battery but then realised it was a n other brand battery for a dell laptop. V clever!
Anyway back to original question - assuming cell count the same is there any benefit to getting dell one and is it only dell that sell real dell ones?MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
Hello! I had a dell laptop, and my charger broke within a year. You can buy them on ebay for about £10 with postage and they work perfectly fine. The one i got from ebay lasted for 3 years whereas my dell one lasted less than a year. my laptop has broken now so i can probably send you my spare laptop charger which i dont use now but you can find them on ebay for £10 or less easily. just search for dell charger with your laptop model and it should work fine with no problems (probably better than the stuff dell sends you!)Who would say I couldn't make you mine? You were mine since th' beginning of time. Who would say we were far apart? You ever reside in the core of my heart?
