  • Hi Cakelover, just wanted to say hello, have just read your diary. I'm sure you will manage to be free of your credit card before 2012! Have you done a SOA? There's a good link on here somewhere, and if you post it, people can have a look and see if there are any area's you could cut back on or make savings.

I've just got back into the site, as I used to be on here all the time but got side tracked with uni work as I was studying part time at nights while working full time through the days but its a great site, and I'm determined to get debt free this time!!

Good luck on your journey and I will check back to see how you are getting on! :)
  • Hi CWC82
Thanks for taking the time to read my diary. I think I am getting addicted, right now one part of me is saying I really need to go to bed, but the other part just wants to do my diary and read other peoples diaries, lol.
I have thought about putting an SOA up. I do have my budget set out so I could just copy and paste it onto here. There are some things I could change on it, but it may be worth me putting it up anyway.

  • Well today marks my 26th birthday :D:j:beer::T:bdaycake:I love birthdays! :D (This will be a very smily post! :D).

I wasn't planning on coming on today as I like my birthdays to be just about me and being selfish :D - well it only comes once a year! But I am just at home alone as every one has had to work today so I thought I may as well do something, so I have paid the £6 I put in the bank yesterday on my card. I may as well start the new birthday year as I mean to go on! Tonight OH and I were going to go out to eat but we are watching our pennies and I didn't get the Tesco vouchers changed up in time, so OH is going to cook me one of my favourite meals which will be lovely, I am looking forward to him getting home from work.

I have been thinking of the things I want to achieve before I am 30 today. It's only 4 years away, which sounds like a long time but I'm sure it will fly by! At a minimum I would love to have paid off my debts and at least part own a house. If I can manage those 2 things I will be happy and who knows, maybe OH will pop the question by then!

Yesterday I signed up for the free energy savings products as per Martins link :money: so hopefully they will save us some cash. We already have one of the bags that go in the cistern which we still need to put in, so maybe I will give the other one to my parents if they want it.

Well I think I am going to veg out now with a cuppa, some chocolate and the tv, I may start my Friends boxset from start to finish. I've watched lots of them but want to start from the beggining.

  • Thanks Fizzypops and Sea

My debt is relatively small compared to lots of people on here, even including what is left on my bank loan which is about £3,000 - £3,500 (I need to update my sig with that) and that finishes April 2012 paying £225 a month, so that's my ultimate goal for being debt free. Before then would be even better though! When I am debt free, I will be at least £325 a month better off! I'm looking forward to seeing that day! :D

  • Hi everyone

Thanks for the birthday wishes Sea
Haven't been on for a few days, haven't had much to note.
Started sorting out all the stuff in our flat that needs to go. Got some shredding to take to work now which I must remember to take tomorrow. Meeting a customer with colleagues from work tomorrow so a free lunch for me! :D:j
I received my CO-OP points statement today. Wasn't holding out much hope as we don't shop there that often, although we may be starting to a bit more, so was only expecting maybe a couple of pound. Opened the letter and we have earnt £1.24, of which £1 goes toward a memebership fee (don't remember having to pay that out of the points you get rewarded) which leaves 24p.You have to have earnt a minimum of £2 to get a pay out so we earnt a big fat £0! Though, it does say it's for January to June 2010, so maybe the rest is to come? Seems a bit silly though that we have only just been sent that statement from 6 months ago?
I did however find about £4 in my bag which was change left over from some food money we spent, so that was a bonus! After paying my credit card this month which we used for food out of the shopping budget, we will have only £110 for the month. That's about half of what we normally spend but I am feeling optimistic. I also get paid on the 17th this month so although I don't really want to touch the food budget for January we can dip into that if needs be and be careful next month too.
Feeling excited about Christmas. I realised how much I have left to do. I've planned on lots of baking/cooking such as piccalilli, cookies, truffles, mince pies, card making, so I have written out a to do list with dates from now until Christmas to keep me on track. I've actually filled up most of the evenings and weekends till Christmas, so I am going tobe busy busy busy! Tonight is researching truffle recipes and writing out the ingredients list for that and the piccalilli. I want to do the truffles on Sunday (hope this isn't too early) and going to start the piccalilli Monday evening when I have my jars. Managed to find 12 jars and lids for about £8.50, which is a lot cheaper than other places, plus someone at work is picking them up for me when they are shopping on Saturday so I won't have to pay delivery, which is very kind of him. Didn't really fancy going out in the car in the snowy slushy icy weather, especially if I don't need to. It's so quiet around here at the moment it's really strange walking home from work, there are normally lots of people. It's very pretty though all the snow, I have got my camera out :)
