PS I'd also enrol your OH on a course of washing up lessons.... and get a little worktop bin maybe for him/her to scrape bits into while washing up, instead of poking them down the plughole!!!
hehe, I am the OH, and i haaaate the washing up (who enjoys it?). The bin for the food scraps is right behind where you stand to do the washing up (it's not a big kitchen), and most scraps do end up in the bin.
But it's generally rice and peas that end up running away down the plughole. Mushrooms, pasta, onion etc usually get's caught and slung before it disappears down the drain!
Annie-C, we'll keep an eye out for one of those plug-hole mesh things. We do kinda have one already, but it doesn't quite work lol
Thanks for the tips!0 -
Hi I have been lurking on here for a while now and have found many of the hints and tips invaluable. Being a little on the shy side I have rarely posted....
However I am having trouble with my sink/waste disposal being smelly and though you would all be the perfect bunch to recommend a great (and economical!) solution :rotfl: Any advice would be much appreciated.....

I put soda crystals down mine - leave for about an hour then pour down boiling water - seems to work!0

Ditto the above ...... and afterwards before you go to bed a night put a few drops of Zaflora down it.
I do this especially when I go away for any length of time.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I regularly use a plunger to dislodge and gunge in the drain - I let the sink fill one quarter with water then use the plunger and let the water gurgle down. I do it two or three times then at the end, like Rikki, I put in a few drops of Zoflora in. I never have a smelly sink.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

If it's smelly but not blocked, I just bung down some neat bleach just before bedtime after the last tap has been run.
Everything smells fine in the morning.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

my sink smells when I put my drier on (my clothes drier setting on my washing machine). When I put the drier on, a foul smell eminates from the plug hole but it doesn't smell any other time. I've just bought some Mr Muscle sink and plug hole stuff, haven't used it yet though.
Tried bleach but that didn't work. Anyone got any tips for me?0 -
Thank you all for your thoughts - I shall be going to the supermarket later to buy some soda crystals and zoflora :rotfl: (From all the lurking I've been doing I have complete faith that my problem will be solved!) Thanks again.....Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 639 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0
