If you manually roam on T-Mobile do you still have the same problem?

I really reallllly can't see them giving up on the contract, i'm just hoping they bring my cancellation charge down a bit so I can afford it. But yeh, will push for it and let you know how it goes. Sorry, to answer the previous question i'm in South Manchester.

And manually selecting the network doesn't work unless I choose Orange.

What happens if you select T-Mobile? Does it not allow you on the network?

Nope, it just says only emergency calls will be available when selecting this option.

I'm almost certain i've tried every method to .. Repair? the phone, but it's not the phone causing the problems, it's Orange, and they have admitted it and not been able to give me any advice but to deal withit by waiting for a possible fix for the masts, or put up with the terrible signal.

They can't blame me for this disruption of service, they have admitted the fault so surely they have to give me options other than "wait for a fix."

At the moment, i've got no signal at all so surely they are breaching the contract?

Does anybody know anything about reducing my price plan? And how it would work with me trying to cancel the contract? Is there a limit on how much I can lower it?
  • Something is wrong there - it should let you log in on T-Mobile 2G. Did you reply 'Yes' to the text?

Yeh, I know it can get the T-Mobile signal, I've had the text saying "Congratulations! You have just picked up the T-Mobile signal for the first time! Your signal will now improve and you will rec[Broken Message]"

It's just 2g though, and Orange said there is no benefit to me as 2g wouldn't carry the signal my phone needs? Or something along those lines...

It's automatic when it "picks up" the t-mobile signal though, it's not that I can chose the t-mobile network over Orange.
  • You should be able to manually select it as well - the T-Mobile network can't be broken in your area as well surely?

Yeah I can't see it, but as fair as I know the Orange / T-Mobile signal thing is automatic, and my phone can't use their 3g signal anyway, just the 2g.

What confuses me is even with UMA enabled it doesn't help, but this didn't seem to suprise the woman on the phone, sounds like UMA is just a waste of time to be honest.
  • UMA isn't very reliable. Have you ever had the UMA work.
I don't get why only getting 2G is a problem for you in your house? This would mean calls and texts would work and 2G data.

The T-Mobile/Orange roam is automatic but you can also force it manually in the network selection.

I've never been aware of UMA not working, and I can't really guess if it has ever made a difference, I just know it isn't helping the situation at the moment.

I don't understand the 2g thing either, I did try to set the phone to 2g, which did nothing, and enquired about it on the phone but was told it's a lost cause and wouldn't help the situation.

I just tried to force it again (T-Mobile,) got the exact message about emergency calls only.

Thanks for the advice & information
