'coz XP is a nice OS? OP feels comfy with XP? they have a COA for XP but not for 7? a.n.other reason the OP has?

must admit, I don't get people XP bashing, it's a decent OS. Now if it was Vista...........;) :):D

True about vista however 7 is far better than xp! XP is ok now a days if you haven't got 7 and can't/don't want to go with linux for a performance boost.

I agree 7 is better as that is what I use on my own PC, but DH's was originally XP and when I upgraded it to Windows 7 there were some things that wouldn't work properly. Plus we can't afford to purchase another reg key. XP was the original OS on his laptop and he's the sort of bloke who doesn't really like change and didn't seem to get on with W7. At least he'll be able to watch his DVD's without being interrupted now and he'll stop griping at me because of it. All sorted now, antivirus, malware and CCleaner downloaded, PC is as good as new =D

Its only decent if you're clueless. XP has more holes than swiss cheese, doesn't implement accounts properly, sets up every account by default as an administrator, doesn't run IE sandboxed....

I can go on and on and on....

surely that's a matter of opinion.....

I hate user accounts and so don't use them, and I like being able to do stuff without having to log in as a different user...and does a sandbox really matter ?!?!?!?
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
  • Hammyman, I tend to agree that XP has had its day..and that was several years ago, however the OP has a license for XP, not 7, and without spending money (or other means) little choice.

If people used accounts properly in XP there wouldn't be nearly as many as problems as there are. I don't think I've ever met anyone using BSD or Linux who constantly runs with the highest user privileges available, it seems to be a problem in the mindset of Windows users especially "power" users.

It makes absolutely perfect sense to run a web browser in a restricted environment, they face perhaps the greatest exposure to risk of any software on your computer let alone when you start loading up all manner of third party addons.

Indeed you can. Sometimes if it works and they are used to it they are happy even if it is 2nd best to others. Live and let live!
