Mobile Speed Cameras!!! Help!

Anyone know how I can avoid all these speed camera vans in my area? Been caught today doing 34 in a 30 - van was just round corner in a village positioned craftily to catch drivers coming in from a 50 mph straight road!! Grrrrr.

Going to cost me £60 at least plus more if I dont go on the course and have to tell my insurance company - makes me mad!!!

Help!!!:(

    Stop worrying.

    1) Your car speedo overreads, typically they overread by 5% so you were probably only doing 32 or 33

    2) Even if you speedo were 100% accurate, they do not record speeds below 35 mph in a 30 (10% + 2 for other limits)

You will not be receiving a ticket for this "offence"

Plus your supposed to slow down in advance so going from 50 to 30 you should enter the 30 at 30 and not above, and you not supposed to accelerate until your out of the 30 limit (take note the idiot trying to have intimate knowledge of my exhaust pipe on the A149 last week).

Be proactive - stick to 30mph in a 30mph limit!

    JUST SLOW DOWN!!!!!! :(

You can always make up time later by driving past a school at 70mph, they never speed check those area's, not enough money in it..... :p

They're only interested in catching out innocent motorists as they slow down from the previous speed limit

You won't have to tell your insurance co if you complete the course, as you won't receive points
If you will the end, you must will the means.

OMG they only dropped their speed to 34, not 30, perhaps because they had another car right up their chuff and to slow down any faster risked being rear ended.

Clearly we have a child killer on our hands here and they should be immediately locked up and their car crushed to protect the little ones. :A

Big round thing on the dashboard with numbers on and a needle that points to those numbers. Make sure when driving it is at or lower than the big number on the big round sign.

    Simple, innit?

I've not had any speeding points in 1.8 million miles, its not that hard to do.

It doesn't help when at 2200 Friday night you are happily driving in a 40 limit then driving down the same road at 0900 Saturday morning you notice a camera van where you have never seen one before and coincidentaly notice the 40 repeaters are missing and further down the road the 40 signs have gone and some vans and workmen tidying up  Luckily this is in a town and traffic was busy. Of course the camera van was there for the safety of the kiddies.

  • Hi Pauper

Try one of the Speed Camera Apps out there in cyberspace. I've been using Speedwatch on my iPhone - its free to download and use for 30 days then its about £1 a month I think - just google speedwatchlive

They've say theyve got a community of users looking out for camer vans and reporting them using the App which then sends out an alert to other users nearby.

Or you could just slow down! :A

    Cheers

Have you actually been done for doing 34MPH because as Lum said up there ^^ there is an override. Here they give you 5/10% plus some MPH but not sure on the figures!
