Oil for lime stone hearth

Have 2 black limestone flags (3x2) for a hearth which will have a stove on. Would like to oil them for appearance, but not sure what type of oil to use. Any suggestions please.

Get some boiled linseed oil and mix it 50/50 with turps. apply with a clean cloth.....buff off surplus.0
