Staff receive points for peddling products and it's this process that leads to staff pressuring customers into taking things they don't want, and it's absolute tosh for management to attempt to absolve themselves of blame.
Staff get £££ for selling products, although there is a lot of pressure that are put on branch staff (and other staff to a certain degree) to meet targets, so its hardly a suprise that it goes on.100% G33K

Thats what I thought at the time, but then when they said it HAD been cancelled, we believed them, but now we find it wasnt!
I think an official complaint to the FOS is in order here. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
My sister actually resigned from a well know bank after she was made to target the vunerable. She just could not go home happy at the end of her day knowing she had conned some little old lady into getting into more debt (the ones with already high debt are prime targets). They are quick to get us into these situations but in the event that you cannot pay your mortgage, which I found myself in a couple of years ago after splitting with my husband, they turn on you and speak to you like s**t. They were not understanding in the slightest and I had many sleepless nights over it. A couple of months down the line when I had sold the house and had £££ in the bank, they were straight onto me "have you thought about opening this savings account?" "have you thought about a bond madam?", my reply was yes, at another bank.0

I had Lloyds do this to me when I tried to open an account with them when I was 18...the guy asked me if I wanted a credit card - I politely said no. He asked once more, I said no again and gave my reasons why to make sure I was being clear about it. Next thing I know, he's typing something on the screen, and when I ask what he's doing he says he's signing me up for a credit card. I told him to delete the application straight away. In hindsight, I should have made an official complaint to the bank and just left and opened an account elsewhere, but stupid me didn't, and for the next few years they continued to make my life hell until I finally left. They're an awful, awful bank and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy!0 -
When I first started banking, I banked with Barclays and you couldn't have a cheque guarantee card without a credit card; The Barclaycard. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
