Base line Parkers is £3.1k with 40k miles so they are maybe not too far away when you knock the excess off.
If you want to argue it you need to pay the £3 and get some exact valuations to reflect 1 owner and only 20k miles from parkers & glasses0 -

i think 20k miles should probably make a big diference.will have to stump up the £3 to find out.my m.i.l payed the policy in full and the excess is only £100 so i think thier trying it on.will post the valuation online very soon.THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THIER VERY HELPFULL ADVISE0 -

trade in £2510
private sale £3311
retail £3930
so going by the fsa link provided earlier.it says they go by the retail price,so the 4k figure i had in my mind looks about right?
thanks all again.at least now i have some ammo0 -
looking good, don't forget the FSO say the average of glasses, caps & parkers so might be worth investing another £3.50 with glasses0

£2800 isnt that far off really, a lot of insurance go off the trade price0

The OP is still to tell us the excess and the policy details. It could quite easily be a high excess and new policy with almost a year to go which could add up to a grand.
OP -
What was the excess?
How much was the policy? and when is it due for renewal.
Is £2800 the net received.0 -

Another sharp practice. What use is a claim settlement based on trade price - unless the insured is in the trade and can actually purchase a car for that price?42 years of experience in the insurance industry.
And nothing the industry tries do to us surprises me any more!0
