New car insurance question re no claims bonus

Options
Any advice on the below situation will be very gratefully received -

At the end of September, I bought a new car. Consequently, I changed my insurance and got a really good deal with Sheila's Wheels. I sent them all the paperwork but I have had a request of proof of no claims bonus.
Having sent them all the paperwork I have, I then wrote to my previous insurer asking for a letter of proof of no claims bonus. I received this and sent it off to Sheila's Wheels on the 9th Nov. I got a letter today saying they still haven't received proof of ncb!

I am planning to ring them tomorrow morning to talk to them directly as they should have received the letter of proof of ncb from my previous insurer by now.
They are saying they will cancel my policy in 6 days if it isn't sorted out.

(Add to this that I cannot find any of my car insurance documentation - not where I thought I had put it - aaargh!!)

Anyone else had this situation? I do not know what else I can send them and am hoping that speaking to them will sort it out.

  • I had the same with esure, they said they probably had it, just had not been processed yet. I've heard noting back. Prob worth a call, worst case you'll have to do it again.
    It's damn computer generated stuff.

I have had problems with Sheila's Wheels regarding proof of no claims. As soon as I got my policy, I requested my proof of no claims from Direct Line (my previous insurer) and sent it off in the pre-paid envelope that Sheila's wheels provided in my policy pack as soon as I received it.

I then got a letter a week later saying that they had not received it and my policy would be cancelled in a 6 days. I called them and explained the situation. They put a note on my account and gave me an extension to get another copy and send it again.

I have spent a lot of money on calls to both companies trying to sort it out. I have also had to pay for recorded delivery as I didn't want to risk it not reaching them again!

However, when I called them up a few days later, still no sign of the letter. The lady on the phone said it can take them up to 6 days to process it though, so she put another note on my account and I have to call them again tomorrow, so we'll see. Don't know what I am going to do if they still haven't got it :-(

Items do get "lost in the post" etc.

Always keep copies of important documents such as NCD proof, and sadly it seems recorded delivery has to be the norm when dealing with insurance companies over things like this.
