T-mobile help!
Options
Hi i have a dilemma! As you may know i had a problem with a faulty galaxy s handset, which is finally getting replaced, however i received the faulty handset back today, it is unbranded and unlocked, the repair report says the phone is was not repaired because it beyond economic repair, and the fault isn't covered by the warranty. However the phone is now working perfectly and is running android 2.2. The problem is I have a replacement coming tommorow which is locked to t-mobile and is only running android 2.1, what should i do? On the repair history of the unbranded phone it said the phone had failed Quality assurance and the repair had to be reworked, but is now working fine! Should i cancel the replacement and keep the 2.2 unbranded unlocked handset or accpet the replacement??
Pls help me decide!

Without sounding rude after all this hassle in your other thread you didn't even buy the phone via the network. You also realise after all the agro you kicked up with the repair centre its not actually t-mobile that tried to fix the phone. If you buy a phone via another company and send it for repair via T-Mobile (who use SBE so i believe the same applies to o2 who also use SBE) then the phone is actually sent back to the company you orignally bought the handset from. Also the failed Quality check was prolly from the orignal repair company. When SBE would have got the phone back from the company theys ent the phone onto for repair they'd have checked it for you. So it also wouldnt have been t-mobile who did the rubbish repair least they check for you. Also the reason your repair took soo long is because they don't repair handsets not bought via them as already explained its sent externery to the orignal company.
But yes... if after all the fuss you kicked up if you want a generic phone go back to whoever you bought it from. And in future if you want unbranded and unlocked NEVER send it via the the network for repair.0 -
If you keep the replacement, do you have to send the original back?
If you have to send one back, then if you refuse the replacement, your chances of getting another are not high if your original fails agian.
You could, however, reject the replacement on the grounds that it is not unlocked to t-mobile and it is running an old version of Android. You then ask for a like-for-like exchange which at least gives you more time to test out your own handset.0 -
In the end i decided to take the locked handset and unlocked it using a app in the android market! I also rooted it using a root app available in the android market and installed one click lagfix! This means i don't have the lag i had with 2.1 which i experienced before! Furthermore anything goes wrong i can just unroot it with one click! Thanks Guy's Dad for your help0
