Michelle I think i am going to pinch your ING account plan to do monthly saves to keep the cash away from the current accounts... I think that case would be good because I could just use my credit card and then pay it when money transfered back so we could lose another account..MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

Its working for us. Helps as you can name each account what you want so you can easily track what it is for, and as long as we don't get too silly i should be able to pay larger bills as they appear. I've had the system in place for yonks but only just using it properly this year, but even in 3 months the amount is building up nicely.
Full of good ideas me this week.0 -

I must admit I have also taken advantage of the £10 cash back for 1st online grocery order from all that deliver her for both me and DH. I also do the getting insurace quotes through that..
Ohh right, I suppose buying the goods with a cashback CC would in effect double the payback.
Right I am going to get the OH on side with this tonight!

yep it would... really you should have a looksie.. they say you should never factor the cashback in when you are working out if something is worth it and I don't but for extra cash its worth it.. there are a few more sites as well and some offer better rates for some retailers as specials at different times so its worth joining top cash back as well IMO and comparing them both... There is a post on the DFW about daily clicks that you can do on cashback sites for 'free' money.. Personally I think its more effort than its worth daily clicks wise but you never know your OH might fancy a bash at it but with a newborn and 2 other kids
I had a saving account with ING for saving for this house and moving costs.. I will log in tonight and sort out some little pots on it for other bits..MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
still on the simplification route... trying to get DH involved with varying degrees of success. I feel i'm slowly sinking under the whole 'my families financial future is in my hands' type stuff. Totally stressing me out.. we are shifting to 2 joint and a seperate account each.. Halifax joint for OH wages, Halifax my account for dla. RBS joint to pay mortage overpayments and to pay our RBS credit card which will be used for daily spends and DH RBS student account to clear that overdraft. In addition i will set up some savings jars on ING to save for annual bills like car insurance and trasfer the cash back to RBS account to pay credit card as suggested/reccommended by Michelle...
Idea is I should be able t see at a glance how much money we have...MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -

You are doing great LP so don't get swamped by what at times seems like the size of the task at hand. I always find it easiest to make a list of the most imporant issues and break them down in bitesizes chunks, then tackle them one at a time.
And as we say at work if what you are doing is not helping you reach your end goal than chances are its not worth doing. You need to run your house like a business and make the most profit from the resources you have at your disposal.
I like having my funds all in one account, then wait for next set of wages and whatever is remaining is used to make an OP. But yours and michelles approach is far more logical and once you get used to it much better I am sure.

The only clicks my OH does on the computer during the day is on facebook!
To be honest the CC cashback I didn't even know I had. I had a letter saying I hadn't used my CC in over 18 months and needed to spend or it would be cancelled.
