  • Knowing it is a week will be the spur you need. I have been having a major tidy up today too. Fed up of being so slummy. The kids have at least gone to bed in a tidy bedroom tonight. We have far too much stuff though.

  • We've decided to put some of mine and DHs stuff up in the loft. Eg i have all the friends DVDS but never watch them, but don't want to get rid of them as i might want them in future. Out of sight, out of mind. I might have room to get them out when the kids leave home in 20 years time. :D

I have a charity shop bag permanently on the go near the front door, and keep adding to it as i find stuff. I have also listed some of my books i won't read again on amazon. I just wish it would instantly go as soon as you make the decision.

We also have some bigger toys that i think i might have to list on mumsnet. At least then it won't cost anything if they don't sell.

right I managed about 2 hours and now i've flopped on the sofa feeling ill. Sitting on these sofas make me realise how uncomfy they are.

I had a small disagreement with DH earlier.. he is being I don't know how to phrase it, lazy, maybe he under estimates how much work 3 kids under 5 will be, maybe he underestimates how much those little ££ add up too, I just don't know. Anyway last night he lazed about on sofa after half building a dvd unit, said he was tired which is fair enough but he once again wakened me this morning while he was getting ready for work, left a wet towel on the end of the bed and generally annoyed me. I don't like sitting on my bum, I always do stuff but i literally can't, i'm not trying to avoid chores i literally can't and i'm sore, worried about the baby, worried about the kids and how they will adjust. They are both quite crafty so we have a pile of craft materials at my parents then the baby will 'bring' it. No idea who is taking the kids and when.. No idea how i'm getting the craft stuff here. No idea how I can get this place neat and tidy when I can barely shuffle sofa to kitchen and to top it off so much time on this sofa makes me realise how uncomfy they are and makes me more determined to buy a new sofa or 2.

  • We've only put up with our sofa for so long with worn out padding because i hardly ever sit on it. ;) I'm so mean. As soon as i said i wanted a new one DH dragged me out shopping at the first opportunity.

Men - i think they just don't see things as we do. Ie, my DH relies on me telling him what needs doing most of the time as he just can't 'see' things the same way. Something i also noticed when i was first on mat leave is when you are home all day, then you 'notice' stuff that might not annoy you quite as much if you were out at work for a bit.

Also, you are in all day, so more stuff gets dragged out by the kids/made dirty? Making sense at all?

Will your DH work better with a list?

You'll get there soon, and hopefully your fitness and capability will return pretty sharply after and you can get back into your routines. Ds's friends mum has a 3 yo, a just 2yo, and a baby born just before christmas, and she seems to be pretty much back to normal. Ie getting kids to school on time, all dressed.

I hope you haven't overdone it. My DH will do stuff if i ask but wouldn't think to do a lot of things without being prompted (although he is improving). Is DH doing bedtime routine etc so that you can rest in the evening as you must be shatter/swollen by then.

See that what gets me... why are they so helpless... DH will do stuff but its minute individual instructions. Tidy the kitchen doesn't cut it, it needs to be, put those dishes in diswasher, empty drying screen and fold the washing, get the spray.. yes the one in the orange bottle and clean that worktop, you can use the blue cloth, yes it under the sink. so on and so forth.

Dh is doing bedtime routine but TBH the kids take the P out of him so its a constant.. i'll go ask mummy, i'll ask mummy and see what she says, Mummy what do you think etcetc. He is underminng himself and I am getting concerned about new baby etc.

I will never forget your post about him in the ?postoffice requiring step by step instruction!

I think some men just doubt their capability and ask questions when they already know the answer because they think they need the reassurance.
