Praise : Sebo & Miele vacuums cf Dyson

FWIW and imo, Dyson are way over-rated.

We've had several [not my choice] and every single one has all been a colostomy [bag of shi7e]. They don't work half as well as the ads imply. They all give up the ghost after a year or so.

If you can afford it put a bit extra to it and buy either a Sebo or a Miele - they are truly brilliant and unburstable. we have a Sebo X4 and i is fantastic. At work we have a Sebo X1 and a Sebo 360 [commercial model]...not a minute's bother with any of them.

  • Dyson are terrible vacs and I've heard from a lot of people including relatives, who say that theirs failed at just over a year and the repair costs would of been too high to be worthwhile.

    I would never purchase one.

Dysons are made from cheap and nasty plastic which becomes brittle with age and breaks.

My local appliance repair shop is a Dyson agent and he thanks Mr Dyson for producing tat so now he can afford exotic holidays. :D

I have a miele cat and dog and it is fab! It replaced my old dyson animal which to give it its due had lasted 7 years. Was beginning to look a bit sad and decrepit though.
My parents have a dyson and my parents are very fastidious in their cleaning, however recently they got a cleaner and my mum was amazed at how much better her carpets looked after the cleaner had vacuumed them, think she had an industrial style henry.

I'd definitely recommend Miele vacuum cleaners. We saved up and bought one last year and it's fabulous. It really does get the carpets clean and I wouldn't be without it now. My only gripe (and it's a small one!) is that they are quite heavy, but tbh that's what you'd expect for such a well made item.

Another thumbs up for Miele. Damn near sucks the carpet off the floor. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I have a new Dyson, and it's fantastic. But I can also vouch for Miele vacs being brilliant as well, and as someone mentions above, Numatic vacs are really good. In the last three and a half years, I can remember maybe 2 faulty Numatic vacs, which is really good compared to, say, Samsung, Electrolux or Hoover

Another vote for Dyson here. Ours is 5 years old and still fantastic. I lost one of the attachments last year. Phoned them up and they sent me a replacement out within the week and didn't even charge me. Can't praise them enough.
  • Just got a Miele and am very pleased. Was advised not to get a Dyson by the local repair man who said they keep him in business.

My only gripe with the Miele is that the cord isn't very long so I have to keep moving the plug, but its very powerful and effective.

TBF to Dyson they are [iirc] the biggest seller, so repairmen should see more of them than other brands...but even allowing for this Sebo & Miele are still the mutt's nuts, imo.
