            I have a few Polish friends and here's what you do...
 You take a pen or something and push it into the Earth hole to release the shutters, then you push your plug into the socket.
 Pretty simple really. No real risk as the thing won't be earthed anyway.

            What century (and I mean century) is that photo from - looks as if the plug on the right is connected to a rental TV or Video recorder. And how did they get the plug on the left "working" without something in the earth pin socket
 As for "pulling down the shutter", given that the correct adaptor costs £1 why bother?0
