HTC Desire HD not receiving calls

Hi, I recieved my new phone yesterday and have noticed that when I'm not in a 3g area (my office/workplace) if my phone is updating data such as facebook etc it will not receive calls they just go straight to voicemail.

Does anyone know if this is a common problems with the new data smart phones or just HTC if so I'd like to swap it for something else.

I believe you can't have a data connections and a voice connection at the same time, so I'd think if you were updating any internet app you'd not get a call.
This is due to the networks and has nothing to do with the phone (all will be the same).

I'd suggest either setting the updates to once an hour or do them manually...

Any Data Transfer should pause as soon as the phone gets a call.
The call service has a higher priority than any apps that use data. So it will get priority over the phone systems.

I've found my DHD to be a bit picky depending on available 2g networks.
I've found turning 3G off and only use wireless for data, keeps the 3G signal free for calls.

Use the "Data Dashboard" Widget to turn off "mobile data" and keep the wireless on.
See if that makes any difference.
