ebay help!

Hi, was wondering if anyone can help me on a situation to put my mind at rest. Here goes....

On 7th Oct, an item i sold went for £450, the person who puchased this (a newbie) was told that postage on top of that would be £50 as it is a quite heavy and large item. The lady paid by bank transfer only for £450, she has not paid the postage. When my partner contacted her she said that she'd pay the postage once it arrives  . This in my opinion is wrong isn't it?, from what i understand the total amount has to be paid in full before item is despatched. Now i am getting a email stating:

have contacted e bay customer advice line, as not happy with delayed false messages about delivery. if bike not received by end of friday 20th would like money returned. or will seek legal advice.

!!!!!!?!!

i'm gobsmaked!

so i sent her a reply stating that once the postage amount has been paid for the item will be dispatched.

any advice? where do i stand? and what should i do?

thanks

She's a numpty. She's had plenty of time to pay, open an unpaid item dispute on her. Tell her she still owes £50 postage.

She sounds like major bad news and I can't imagine her paying. She's TSFE and deserves a strike.

yep agree, i assume she was hoping it was posted and then not pay the remainder and would have probably just start another ebay account so you had no claim back on her.

Is £50 not a bit high?

Anyway tell her that if she wishes to arrange her own courier to feel free. Suggest that as the goods are now hers you will start charging her for storage unless she either pays or collects within 30 days!!

Try and give her a call and start of amicably.

    suprisingly she hasn't replied yet.
i really don't want to but should i give her a refund on what she's already paid and leave it at that?

or is it right saying that the item is now hers since she has paid for it (minus postage) and all she's got to do is pay for the postage or organise her own courier?

    thanks

Close the dispute as soon as it lets you, then refund the money. This will mean her supplying you with her bank details so that you can do this... otherwise accepting a cheque.

Indeed it is hers. However, all the while it's on your property you are entitled to charge her for storage. You could always try this tack...

And should she default on her storage charges, you can claim the item to cover the defaulted costs. Now then, if you sent the storage charge at £450 per week... lol
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

hmmm, now you got me thinking to send her an email stating that!-i never really thought about storage charges. So the item now is legally hers (phew) lol, i don't sell much on ebay, it's just so typical of me to bump into this sort of awkward buyer.

has anyone got any suggestions what to put in the email?

    Hello,
On ebay buyers pay in full before items are despatched. As I have explained, £50 delivery costs are still outstanding from your payment.
I look forward to receiving the remaining £50 promptly. As soon as I receive this the unpaid item dispute will be closed and your item will be despatched.

Should I not receive this payment by x date, I will be forced to charge storage fees at a cost of £x per day.

I look forward to receiving your payment and concluding this sale swiftly, as I know you will be delighted with the bike(?)

    Yours sincerely,
    Seller
