My godsend is my potato ricer too, I can make edible mash with it. I never add milk unless I am piping it, just salt and pepper then family add their own butter if they want it.
One day I might be more organised...........

I third the vote for using a potato ricer. I then melt some milk and butter in the microwave and mix in with salt and pepper. Yum.

as long as you live wherever you are!

  • Make loads - freeze some and also keep some in the fridge - it reheats brilliantly.
Varitations - mustard mash (add some grained mustard - brill with beef), pesto mash (add some pesto)
  • I used the beater attachments on my electric whisk to mash tatties up, just add a little butter to them,I don't add milk as I think it makes it taste like smash (yuk)

Also what is the point of mashed potatoes
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I just mash the spuds with a potato masher. :D never have added milk or butter, only onion if we are having sausage and mash

I add some nutmeg to mine. Might be a German thing because my Mum does it but I love it!

Must have been a James Martin recipe.

    He really loves his butter.
