Cheapest/best way to buy cheese

We like strong cheese too. I tend to look at whats on offer rather than sticking to a brand & if no offers buy from deli. I have also cut down on the amount I buy as hubby had high cholestral count & I think he is addicted to cheese so if it's not here he can't eat it, plus I gather it is very mucus making so not a good thing to eat if you have a cold etc.0

I guess we just use a LOT of cheese. Its not like we eat chunks of the stuff but it is used in a lot of the things we cook, pizza, cheese sauce for pasta and in lasagna and fish pie. Plus DH has a thing for cheese and pickle sandwiches at the moment which he takes in his packed lunch for work! Me thinks I will have to stop asking him what he wants and put tuna ones in a couple of times a week. Also girls sometimes have cheese and crackers for lunch (think the pizza is the main culprit, especially as the girls make their own and put their own toppings on).
As Cathedral City is on BOGOF at Somerfield at the mo I may stock up and freeze some. Gonna get the value mature cheese for pizza I think.
I guess the main problem is I dont drive and work weekends so get my main shopping via tesco delivery service, so dont get chance to go to these other places.0 -
At the moment, if anyone is still interested...
Sainsburys have 200g for 99p - BOGOF - working out @ 2.97 for 1.2kg
It is mild, but when I tried it, I found it nicely tasted - and I prefer strong cheese!

We all love cheese here too.
Sainsbury's value mature cheese is very nice and we have that sometimes, but I tend to buy the 460g packs from Iceland at £2. It's suitable for vegetarians and they don't use GM ingredients in the rennet used for setting the cheese....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

I've seen the huge slabs in Costco and am thinking about buying some. How much is a big slab in comparison to Tesco?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

We used to get the huuuuuuuuuuge slabs then grate and freeze as well. I think it cost us about £15 for one which lasted a couple of months. Now though we use even less cheese which is making me wonder if it's worth doing that again and now it should last at least 4 months!Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!
