I found that it took a while to get in to the flossing routine, my dentist (thankfully) pestered and criticised me for not doing it regularly so much so that I persevered and now it comes as a second nature, every evening.....and they don't feel totally clean without it.0

I think you could probably over-do it theough, take away the mouth's natural defence bacteria
Not really, (this is a pretty gross oversimplification that follows by the way)
When a tooth is cleaned a film starts to redevelop almost immediately, however it is the conditions that develop within the film as it thickens and matures that promotes the more damaging bacteria. This is why regular plaque removal is so important, as it is the "old" plaque bacteria that hurt us, the early plaque bacteria are less of an issue, but they get shoved out as the plaque gets older.0 -
I dont use one all the time as it makes me gag however if the dentist has told you to use it as close to everyday i think if it is going to help your gums and teeth :-)0
