I got an unlock code from o2 for an iphone no problem, sounds like they may be messing you around.
  • tesco told me that apple dont give any network unlock codes. however when i took out the contract I was told i could at the end of the 12 months or if i was to pay to end my contract.
  • Give it a go using the O2 site, I have had a couple of Tesco's iPhones unlocked via this route....As long as it isn't an iP4, which yours wont be if you've had it since January.

I'm sure that iPhone's aren't unlocked by using a code. Apple need to make the change at their end and then you connect the iPhone to iTunes, is all this just confusion because you didn't realise that?

When I asked for an iphone to be unlocked, on o2, I got a text to say it had been done.

And it was, no need to connect to itunes to make the phone work

If you're phone wasn't supplied unlocked, it must be connected to iTunes for the unlock to take place. It's done by Apple making a change on the database to show it is unlocked, it isn't done over the air.
