  • :( oh no! can you get to a store? If items have sold out it may be worth checking to see if they come back into stock? Hope you manage to get what you are after.

Maybe try Mothercare - they stock same stuff & changed delivery to free if you spend £29.99.

  • Thanks for this, I bought my son's christmas present at the weekend, and now with the 20% off I have re-ordered it and will be taking the original back, saving £8. £8 is £8 at the end of the day. The brilliance of it for me, is that the code I tried to use for 20% wouldn't work because there was an additional free product with the main item, now I can have the 20% off and the free toy! Yayy!
  • Thanks guys never thought of mothercare thought all the same stock etc. will check now. Could go to store but then have got my toddlers with me so no surprises lol

You could also try Debenhams. They have sale on starting today (20% on toys I think) and there is a free delivery code on the boards as well.

    Can't disagree more!

ELCs customer service is appaling. I was at their CS desk for 90 minutes once. They sold me a faulty toy - a button wasn't working on it. I wanted a replacement. They didn't have one at their store. It was available online, but I'd have to pay the delivery charge. They had one at a store 40 miles away, which I was expected to collect.

The 2 year old whose birthday present it was was not in a happy place after 90 minutes, especially after learning that she couldn't have the broken toy she'd loved.

I wrote to Head office about it and they re iterated that there was nothing they could do if I was unwilling to pay the extra charges

The doors of every Happyland item and similar we have bought over the past 6 years have come off within 2 months of playing and don't attach back on without falling off again within 5 minutes.

The stuff is overpriced for what it is and I'm so glad my children are now past the ELC stage as we aren't going to get lumbered with the cheap plastic stuff anymore which people seem to believe is worth the premium you pay for it.

I have just spent over £100 on Happyland toys for my grandaughter.I was asked to get Happyland because she loves it at her group where she goes. Have I wasted my money? should I take it all back? Has anyone had good experiences with it?

happyland I have found to be OK but we prefer FP little people as it is more robust IMO. If she plays with it at her group and loves it then I think it's money well spent.

Yes the doors fall off but you can easily put them on again. We've got the village set, school, school bus and rose cottage and honestly my yougest (who's 2 1/2) will play with it for 2 hours solid! I have NEVER EVER seen her play with something for that long before. This christmas she is getting the fire station and the train set. I think it does depend what sort of child you have though. My yougest has a very good imagination and so she loves this sort of thing.

Be careful with the 20% though, I've just been on the website and tried to buy the firestation which comes with free emergency vehicles. The extra 20% wasn't taken off this item so i don't think it applies to star buys :(
