Loads of people buying for next year - double discount unheard of really genuine quality toys reduced. Not the tosh bought in the far east by supermarkets.:T
If you care about child development and great play value go to ELC!!!
I am not sure that I totally agree. Granted, many ELC toys are good quality but on the whole I find them to be quite over priced for what they are. There are many good brands out there that in my opinion offer equal if not better value for money. Having wasted money on toys in general (including ELC) in the past I now make sure I take the time to research toy reviews.
I also disagree about Argos. I worked on customer services as a student and generally they were great at accepting returns, particularly post Christmas. If you can produce a receipt all items are gauranteed for 12 months and if it cannot be fixed it is replaced.0 -

Can't disagree more!
ELCs customer service is appaling. I was at their CS desk for 90 minutes once. They sold me a faulty toy - a button wasn't working on it. I wanted a replacement. They didn't have one at their store. It was available online, but I'd have to pay the delivery charge. They had one at a store 40 miles away, which I was expected to collect.
The 2 year old whose birthday present it was was not in a happy place after 90 minutes, especially after learning that she couldn't have the broken toy she'd loved.
I wrote to Head office about it and they re iterated that there was nothing they could do if I was unwilling to pay the extra charges
The doors of every Happyland item and similar we have bought over the past 6 years have come off within 2 months of playing and don't attach back on without falling off again within 5 minutes.
The stuff is overpriced for what it is and I'm so glad my children are now past the ELC stage as we aren't going to get lumbered with the cheap plastic stuff anymore which people seem to believe is worth the premium you pay for it.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

That is exactly my eperience of happyland stuff too - I gave up with the doors on the farm and fire station as they kept falling off resulting in tears from my son. I ended up taking them off and leaving them off.
:eek: re: your customer service experience. That is horrendous! You would think they would send you a replacement for free. That has put me off ELC even more!!0 -

Thanks for the info, I for one will be down there tomorrow buying my sons Xmas pressies, there is already 20% off what I want and with an extra 20% off now too that cant be ignored !!
Personally what I have bought from ELC centre in the past has always been well made and Ive never had any probs with it, granted I dont buy a lot from here as it is a bit overpriced, so I do tend to buy from here in the sale, however with 40% off what I want to buy I cant complain !!

I just had a look at the web site. It is basically the same as having the 20% codes on here. Don't get too excited.0

I was thinking the same until I noticed they are taking 20% off already reduced items. So quite a good deal for once.
I don't normally buy from ELC, but might have a further look tomorrow.
Would have been great if they done half price or free delivery.
I so don't like paying delivery charges :cool:0 -
I've just bought the City Garage for my car obsessed four year old boy. http://www.elc.co.uk/Big-City-Garage-with-FREE-SuperWheels-Cars/125154,default,pd.html
He has the toddler garage ELC produce but way too big for it now (and its in a state lol, I did get it second hand). This garage is the best 'tough' garage I have found.., I've looked in quite a few stores. However I didn't want to pay full price for it and been praying it would be reduced before Christmas. With the 20% off, I've paid £44 for it, ordered another small item, so free delivery and have Quidco 5% cashback too (plus 20 free good quality cars - he's rough on them too lol). So altho its not an enormous amount off, I'm happy.0 -
