PLease help my dad has the blue screen of death

Hi

Trying to help my father
He was using his pc to tax his car on the government site.
Had not installed any new progs or software etc,,

Suddenly he got the blue screen then it said

Intel(p) Grantsdale-G PCI accelerated QVGA BIOS
Build number:3414 PA dev 04/10/2004 17:02:24
Decompilation or diqaqqembly prohibited
Ampypieht (c) 2000-0003 intel copy all rights reqeptgd

(his eyesight is poor this is what he thinks it said)

I went and restarted the pc it seemed ok then began a physical memory dump stating
STOP (oxcoooooo5,ox804f97ad,oxa7dccb68,ox00000000)

I have shut it down

Any advice please we are desperate :-(

  • try it again after its done its dump

if its still blue restart again and keep pressing F8 while booting and try and choose the repair windows option it usually takes you through some fairly basic steps.

PCI suggests something in one of the PCI slots, or the PCI area of the motherboard has gone west?

VGA in the message suggests you have a graphics card maybe in one of the PCI slots, and that has gone faulty?

Or maybe it's a problem with the graphics driver, which may need to be re-installed?
  • actually ignore that i just looked again and re read it.

looks like a graphics card issue

still no harm trying repair windows if you can get that far
  • OK started it up pressing F8 got it to start in lastbest know config
    Appeared fine
then it began the memory dump ?

Im no expert not sure what to do there was nothing attached to the PC at the time no external drives etc.
What should I try next please
  • Should I try the F8 then repair option ?
  • could do or try safe mode and then reboot

ive not come across a graphics card bios issue before
  • By reboot you mean turn on ?
sorry not to PC terminology clever myself and terrified of screwing it up more
